Two Militants killed in Handwara one from Palhallan.


Two militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Handwara area of Kupwara district on Monday, police said. Superintendent of police HandwaraGhulamJeelani said that two militants were killed in Rajwar area “after they attacked a police party police identified the slain militants as Toib Mir of BrathKalan, Sopore and Ashiq Ahmad Bhat of Palhalan—both belonging to HizbulMujahide militants fired upon a joint party of Handwara police, army’s 21 RR and 92 battalion CRPF who were performing Naka duties near Sultanpora Crossing, Zachaldara, Handwara. The attack was repulsed and both the militants were killed by the timely retaliation of the alert security personnel,” a police spokesman said in a statement. A report said that massive protests rocked Palhalan and Sopore areas after the news about the militants’ killing spread. Internet service has been suspended across Baramulla district as a “precautionary measure”,
