Top officials in the Kashmir University informed Greater Kashmir that the university was yet indecisive about holding joint exams of 5th and 6th semester under graduate students in colleges. “Given the prevailing circumstances it is hard for the varsity administration to take a decision for conducting PG entrance test and holding joint exams of 5th and 6th semester students,” an official said. Amid the indecisiveness, the directorate of admissions and competitive examinations of the Kashmir University has issued a circular regarding admission process for the Post-Graduate and other courses for the 2018 academic session. As per notification issued, the admission process for the Post-Graduate and other courses for the academic session 2018 will commence from 3rd week of March. “The candidates desirous to seek admission to any of the programmes in the University are advised to keep the necessary certificates (marks certificates, state subject, date of birth, character certificate and reserved category certificate) ready for submission with the form. Certificate “under process” will not be entertained,” reads the notice. aspirants have been also informed through the notice that the entrance test question papers of previous years and syllabi for entrance test for all PG and other programmes will be available soon on the official website of the University. Meanwhile, the students who are set to graduate from colleges have been left and dry. According to them the outgoing batch of graduate students from colleges won’t be eligible to appear in the said PG entrance examination. “As per the previous notification issued by KU, our 5th and 6th semester (if combined) will be held in July this year while as KU is holding entrance examination in March but we won’t be eligible for admissions,” said Tania, a 3rd year (5th semester) student from Baramulla. Top sources said the university is mulling to include last year drop outs of PG entrance and students appearing in ongoing bi-annual 3rd year exams. “The number of these students is over 15000 and some officials in KU administration are suggesting that they will be allowed to appear in PG entrance test scheduled in 3rd week of March,” sources said. They said University is also deliberating on holding another PG entrance test for students who will graduate from colleges in July this year. "PG entrance for these students will be held in November and classes will start from March 2019. This option is also being deliberated upon," sources said. Students however said the University authorities were least bothered about the career of students who are set to graduate from colleges. "If entrance will be held in November, again it will cost us one year," they said. Public Relation Officer (PRO) Kashmir University said the University is holding deliberations and final decision will be announced soon. "Nothing has been finalised yet. Deliberations are going on and final decision will be announced soon," he said
