Saudi Crown Prince wants US troops to stay in Syria. READ WHY.

“We believe American troops should stay for at least the mid-term, if not the long-term,” Prince Mohammad told Time magazine on Thursday. CLICK HERE Dubai—Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman has called on US troops to remain in Syria, despite US President Donald Trump saying that US forces will be pulled from the country in the future. “We believe American troops should stay for at least the mid-term, if not the long-term,” Prince Mohammad told Time magazine on Thursday. The crown prince is currently on a three-week visit to the US, hoping to ramp up support for Saudi Arabia, both economically and politically. He said that US troop presence in Syria is the last effort to reign in Iran. The US maintains a remote base at Deir Ezzor in Syria. Under Prince Mohammad, Saudi Arabia has severed diplomatic ties with Iran and pressured countries in the Middle East and Africa to curtail their relationships with Tehran, accusing it of meddling in Arab affairs. Australian Cricketer Usman Khawaja's Wife Converted to Islam.

SYDNEY: Rachel McLellan, fiancรฉe of Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has spoken out about why she made the decision to convert from Catholicism to Islam. click here to watch ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡ The couple, Rachel McLellan, 22 and her Muslim groom Khawaja will tie the knot the next month, discussed everything in an interview to from their unlikely relationship to racism on the cricket field and Ms McLellan’s decision to convert to Islam last year. Rachel McLellan has opened up about her decision to convert from Catholicism to Islam to marry Pakistan-born batsman – who became the first Muslim to ever play cricket in Australia, she loves. Leaving behind her Catholic roots, Rachel made the decision to convert to Islam last year. Appearing on 60 Minutes, to be aired on Sunday night, the bride-to-be admitted she believed the misconceptions of the faith before she met Khawaja. Rachel was not forced as she made the decision on her own to convert to Islam last year. “I felt no pressure from him, not any pressure from his family. I just knew it was so important to him,” she said. ‘Ussie was the first Muslim I’d ever met,’ Rachel said, adding; “I was very ignorant around Ussie, I will admit to that. I only listened to what I had heard on the news. All I read was well, terrorists and awful things.’ The Pakistan-born batsman – who became the first Muslim to ever play cricket in Australia – said his faith has always come first in his life, adding that it came as a surprise when he fell in love with the Catholic school girl. Despite trying to challenge the stereotypes of the religion, Khawaja said the pair have faced outrage since going public with their relationship. Khawaja proposed to his then-girlfriend – who was born into a devout Catholic family – during a romantic New York holiday in July 2016. As their relationship blossomed, the batsman said he never put any pressure on Rachel to switch religion for him – and insisted the decision was entirely hers to make. ‘I never was going to put a gun to Rachel’s head and say you have to convert,’ he said. ‘I told her I would prefer her to convert but she has to do it on her own. Unless it comes from you, comes from the heart, then there is no point doing it.’ By sharing their story, the pair seemed determined to break down the social barriers that still permeate society.

Unknown Militant killed in Anantnag Identified: He is South Indian. |read here|

Al-Qaeda’s Kashmir wing Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind today said that the unidentified militant who was killed in a gunfight in Hakoora village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Sunday evening along with two local militants was a south Indian from Hyderabad. Mohammad Eesa Fazili of Srinagar and Syed Owais Shafi of Kokernag were the two local militants killed during the gunfight. click here๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡ The outfit issued this statement in Al-Nasr bulletin on group’s Telegram channel in both English and Urdu languages. “Responding to the call of Shariat or martyrdom, Mohammad Taufeeq started his jihadi journey in 2017 after making Hijrah [emigration] from India’s Hyderabad city to the mountains of Kashmir and was among the first in the ranks of Ansar Ghazwatul Hind,” the statement said click.here๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡ The statement also said that the purported south Indian was known by two nom de guerres like Sultan Zabul Al-Hindi and Abu Zarr Al-Hindi. Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind, which is headed by Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Zakir Musa, also released an undated picture of the purported south Indian militant along with outfit’s deputy chief Rehan Khan. On close observation, the man in the picture issued with the statement is the same person whose picture went viral on social media immediately after three militants were killed in Anantnag. Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind, however, didn’t say anything whether the purported south Indian had left their group and joined “Islamic State Kashmir” as was stated in the caption on the viral picture. Interestingly, last December, Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind issued an audio message on the 25th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, calling all Muslims in India to join jihad. The voice in the audio clip was attributed to a person who was named as Sultan Zabul Al-Hindi. Zabul is one of the 34 provinces in Afghanistan located on the south side. “Mujahideen are aware of all attacks on Muslims in India and we think of ways to protect them from it,” the speaker in that message is heard saying. The Police, however, said that after all efforts to identify the militant failed to fructify, he was buried in Boniyar. A news report even hinted that the unidentified militant may by from Pakistan. “(T)he body of the unknown militant believed to be from Pakistan was buried with the help of local Auqaf on the intervening night of March 12 and 13 at around 1:30 am,” the report said. If confirmed, it won’t be for the first time that youth from south India have come here to fight against the forces.

Is it time the US apologised for invading Iraq?

Fifteen years after the US-led invasion of Iraq, the consequences of the subsequent war continue to be debated. According to the UN refugee agency, more than four million people have been displaced. There is no widely accepted figure for civilian deaths, but estimates run from the hundreds of thousands into the millions. "Would we like a do-over, of course we would," says Mark Kimmitt, retired US Brigadier General who served as deputy director of operations and chief military spokesman in Iraq from 2003 to 2004. While Kimmitt accepts the US "did get some things wrong" in Iraq, he says his country's military has nothing to apologise for. Actions taken by the US at the beginning of the war continue to have reverberating consequences, including allegations that US detention centres such as Camp Bucca became breeding grounds for armed groups in Iraq, and helped to lay the groundwork for the formation of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS). "I was worried at the time that the mass incarceration of what the troops on the ground believed to be security threats would come back to haunt us," says Kimmitt. "I told that to my colleagues and I told that to my superiors." While he agrees the Iraq War may have inspired violent groups, Kimmitt insists ISIL was not created in Iraq. Kimmitt served in Iraq at a time of alleged massacres committed by US soldiers. When asked about dozens of unarmed civilians being killed in places like Fallujah, Haditha, Mahmoudiya and Balad, Kimmitt refuted any claim that civilians were intentionally killed by American soldiers. "I am not suggesting for a moment that war doesn't sometimes kill innocent civilians. That's the price of war," he said. "As a soldier, what you do is try to minimise it at all costs. But anybody that believes that collateral damage doesn't happen in war is living in a fool's paradise." In this week's UpFront special, we challenge former US Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt on the consequences and lessons learned after 15 years of war in Iraq. Murder of Khrew Lecturer:Police Seeks Sanction To Prosecute 23 Army Men

Srinagar—A probe conducted by Jammu and Kashmir police into the custodial murder of a 30-year-old lecturer in August 2016 has held 23 army personnel responsible for his death. According to a report in The Indian Express, the police has sought and sanction to prosecute the army personnel as required under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act. “The Army cooperated in the probe and allowed investigators to record statements of the Army personnel. Special Investigation Team, led by a DySP, completed the probe two weeks ago,” the newspaper report quoted Awantipora SSP Mohammad Zahid as saying. “We haven’t filed a chargesheet yet. We will require sanction for prosecution under AFSPA for that,” the officer said, adding “I won’t be able to talk about the outcome of our investigation.” On the night of August 17, 2016, Shabir Ahmad Mangoo, a 30-year-old college lecturer was beaten to death allegedly by Army personnel in Sharshali village of Khrew in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. “It was alleged that Army personnel had beaten village residents with wooden planks, iron rods and rifle butts, that they had barged into Shabir’s house, dragged him out and beaten him before taking him away. Residents said more than 20 youth from the village were taken away,” the report said about the incident. The report on the Shabir case, sources said, stated that “on 18.08.2016 at 0440 Hrs, Wali Mohammad Mangoo — the father of the deceased (lecturer Shabir Ahmad Mangoo) — lodged a written report with Police Station Pampore, alleging therein abduction of his son and other three persons from Sharshali, Khrew by Army personnel of 50 RR during the intervening night of 17 and 18 August, 2016 at 2300 hrs and inflicting of serious injuries upon (his) son who (subsequently) died in Army custody”. The police, the report stated, registered FIR 156/2016 under Sections 364, 302, 307, 447, 427 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code at Pampore police station. The same day, the report stated, “at 1930 Hrs, Major/Officer incharge D-Coy 50 RR (Kumaon) lodged a counter written complaint with Police Station Pampore alleging therein that on 17.08.2016 approximately 2230 hrs an Army patrol came under heavy stone pelting by approximately 25-30 locals in the general area Sharshali Chowk and four persons including son of the complainant were apprehended and balance were dispersed after verbal counseling”. Quoting the Major’s counter-complaint, the report stated that “among the four apprehended persons, only three were handed over to Police Station Pampore and the fourth individual namely Shabir Ahmad Mangoo asked for water and after drinking glass of water collapsed and was taken to regimental medical officer located at Lethpora camp. However, the individual could not be resuscitated”. On the basis of the Major’s complaint, police registered another FIR (No. 157/ 2016 under Sections 147, 148, 341, 332 and 427 RPC) at Pampore police station. According to the report, the postmortem was conducted and the viscera/X-ray films “from the deceased were sent to FSL Srinagar/Department of Radio Diagnosis, Government Medical College, Srinagar for analysis and expert opinion”. “Statements of various persons who were found acquainted with the facts of the matter were recorded… Army personnel belonging to 50 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) were found responsible for the death of son (Shabir Ahmad Mangoo) of complainant (Wali Mohammad Mangoo) and injuries to other persons,” the probe concluded. “The nominal roll of Army officers/officials along with incharge party was obtained and the said officers/officials were summoned for necessary questioning and the information/replies were recorded,” it stated. The investigation concluded that “the second case (FIR filed on the basis of the written complaint of the Major, 50 RR) could not be established”. “…facts and evidence which came to fore during investigation against 23 Army personnel… has been sent for obtaining sanction from the competent authority under the provisions of Armed Forces (J&K) Special Powers Act for launching prosecution against the said Army personnel,” the report stated.

After months of saber-rattling between the two leaders, Trump agreed to meet the North Korean leader by May, South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong announced at the White House on Thursday, after delivering a letter from Pyongyang to the American leader. Korea relations hinges on Washington’s attitude’ Prior to accepting Kim’s invitation, Trump held a phone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, in which the leaders as usual agreed to apply maximum pressure on North Korea. Abe plans to visit the US in April ahead of the proposed meeting between the North Korean and US delegations. Confirming Trump’s acceptance of the invitation to meet Kim, the White House stressed that the place and time of a US-North Korean encounter is yet “to be determined.”“We look forward to the denuclearization of North Korea. In the meantime, all sanctions and maximum pressure must remain,” press secretary Sarah Sanders added. A The Korean peninsula has been divided since 1953, after an uneasy armistice suspended the bloody, three-year conflict between the Communist North and the US-allied South that, at one point, involved both US and Chinese militaries. Last month, North and South Korean athletes competed together at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. Despite the unprecedented level of negotiations between the two Koreas, which began with Kim’s New Year address seeking better ties with Seoul, Trump’s administration has put massive military and economic pressure on Pyongyang in recent months. On February 23, the US introduced a new package of sanctions on North Korea. Trump also repeatedly warned that, if sanctions do not work, the US will look at a “phase two” of action against Pyongyang.
